Should you buy
a Kodak TV?

We did. Then we spent the next few months collecting a different kind of 4K experience: 4,000 ways to say "your replacement is on the way".

The TV died in April 2026, still in warranty.
The promises have been dying ever since.

The short version

Bought in May 2025. Dead by April 2026. Replaced by... nothing.

A KODAK CA PRO 50-inch 4K Smart Google TV, bought on Flipkart, got stuck in a boot loop inside its warranty. A motherboard swap fixed it for a full two hours. Then came a legal notice, and finally a written settlement on 3 August 2026: a brand-new upgraded 50-inch QLED replacement, dispatched within 7 working days, plus a 1-year extended warranty.

"Dispatched within 7 working days."Written commitment, 3 August 2026. Day 40 and counting. The only shipment ever created was cancelled on 2 September, without explanation.
Not alone

Other buyers, same story

This one case is not an outlier. A public-records audit (run September 12, 2026) cataloged 53 individual complaint cases against SPPL-licensee TV brands - 29 Kodak, 16 Thomson, 5 Blaupunkt, 3 Westinghouse - from Consumer Complaints Court, Voxya, ConsumerComplaints.in, PissedConsumer, Consumer Court Advisor, and LinkedIn posts and comment threads, including comments on SPPL CEO Avneet Singh Marwah's public posts. Cross-posts are counted once; generic criticism without a personal case is not counted. Every excerpt below is verbatim, links to its original public post or the post carrying the comment, and uses first name + last initial (or the poster's own username) so nobody's full legal name gets amplified beyond where they already published it. Two further SPPL-channel complaints about washing machines (not TVs) are listed separately at the end of the catalog.

The forums' own lifetime counters (their numbers, not ours - read Sep 12, 2026):

113Kodak complaints
8 resolved
147Thomson TV complaints
9 resolved
82Thomson complaints
4 resolved

Source: consumercomplaints.in TV category. These are that forum's lifetime totals, kept separate from our 38-case audit - we did not individually verify each forum entry.

Honest gaps: Reddit could not be searched with the available tooling and Facebook complaint threads are login-gated, so "38" is a floor from the platforms we could verify, not a ceiling. No SPPL-era JVC, SVL or Suntek complaints surfaced - absence of search results, not proof of a clean record. The pattern clusters on Flipkart purchases and the shared Jeeves/SPPL service network; it does not prove every brand has an identical service record.

Who you're actually dealing with

The company behind "Kodak" TVs in India

You didn't buy from Kodak. In India, the Kodak name on a TV is licensed to a Noida-headquartered manufacturer that builds, sells, and services it. Here is the actual structure, from official MCA filings and the companies' own statements:

Trademark owner Eastman Kodak Company USA - owns the Kodak brand. Does not make, sell, or service these TVs in India.
licenses the Kodak name for TVs in India ▼
The company you actually bought from Super Plastronics Pvt. Ltd. (SPPL) HQ Noida / reg. office Okhla, New Delhi. CIN U25201DL1997PTC089294. Manufactures, sells and services Kodak TVs in India; runs the consumer-care email this case is fought over. Per its own MCA annual return (FY 2024-25), SPPL has no parent company - it is promoter-owned (Marwah family).
Subsidiary (99.76% owned) Mountain View Technologies Pvt. Ltd. The only subsidiary declared in SPPL's MCA annual return (FY 2024-25).
Sister / group companies Super Plastech Pvt. Ltd. · Suntech Vision Ltd. · Vijman Electronics Pvt. Ltd. Not subsidiaries - linked by common directors (MCA records).

Where the case stands

Not closed. Escalating.

A National Consumer Helpline docket is open. A complaint sits on the Government of India's e-Jagriti portal. The legal notice of 15 July 2026 stands, and the District Consumer Commission filing is prepared if the 3 August settlement isn't honoured by 16 September 2026.

What we want is boringly simple: the replacement TV Kodak agreed to in writing, delivered and installed, with the promised 1-year warranty. The day that happens, this page updates to say so. Promises, unlike shipments, will be tracked here.

The honest scoreboard

Real counters. Starting at zero, like our delivery count.

Public cases cataloged, name by name (audit of Sep 12, 2026)

Three separate numbers, never merged: real page views (privacy-respecting, no ad trackers), complaints submitted here that pass verification, and public cases cataloged - name by name - from Consumer Complaints Court, Voxya, ConsumerComplaints.in, PissedConsumer, Consumer Court Advisor, and LinkedIn posts and comment threads (including threads on SPPL CEO Avneet Singh Marwah's public posts), deduplicated per case (cross-posts counted once). Nothing is seeded or inflated - this whole site exists to call out numbers that don't mean anything.

Register your complaint

If your Kodak, Thomson, Blaupunkt, Westinghouse, White-Westinghouse, JVC, SVL or Suntek product in India has its own unresolved story, add it. Verified, documented complaints may be reviewed for coordinated legal action before the consumer commissions - subject to an advocate's assessment. No class action is promised or filed today.

What happens after you submit:

  1. Screening. Every submission is checked for completeness and evidence. If something is missing, you get an evidence request - not a rejection.

  3. Verification. Only cases with consistent details and evidence are marked verified. Only verified cases move the public counter.
  4. Private inbox, screening first. Submissions land in a private inbox for screening and verification - never published raw. The owner acts on verified cases and candidates suitable for legal review.
  5. Nothing public without your say-so. Even an anonymised summary appears on this site only if you tick the public-display consent. Your details go to an advocate only if you tick the advocate consent.

The verdict

So... should you buy one?

SITE OWNER'S PERSONAL VERDICT - OPINION, NOT A LEGAL FINDING

Don't buy one. Even if they give it to you free.

That is my verdict after 4 months inside their warranty process - a dead TV, a settlement, a cancelled shipment, and a missed callback. The receipts are above, in dates and quotes. You just read the same 53 public cases I did. Decide what your money is worth to you.
